Fieldschool’s F.A.M.E. Expressive Arts Project
What are Fieldschool Projects?
Each day at Fieldschool, we focus on 1–2 project-based units called "Fieldschool Projects". Each semester we select 4–6 diverse Projects and rotate through them on a weekly basis, providing a consistent backdrop for endless variety and adventure.
Your learner can sign up for a drop-in pass and only attend on days that have their favourite Projects (for instance, joining each Tuesday for Parkour Academy). Or, they can jump in for 2–4 days per week and experience our full, diverse range of Projects. Click here to view 'em all!

A unique outdoor theatre and expressive arts program where Rebels Against the Boring learn to express themselves.
VOS is excited to double down on the power of expressive arts by introducing F.A.M.E. Expressive Arts Program. This dynamic project reaffirms our commitment to fostering self-expression, creativity, and collaboration. We believe the expressive arts give learners a strong foundation to become more curious, confident, and independent.
F.A.M.E. is designed as part of Fieldschool’s expressive arts, project-based learning pillar. The program draws inspiration from the TV show Fame and its themes of artistic growth, dedication, and creativity based on the following:
-
F – Focus: Just like in Fame, where students hone their skills, Focus emphasizes the importance of concentration and dedication to improving one’s craft, whether in dance, music, acting, or visual arts.
-
A – Aspire: We always encourage children to dream big and aim high. Our program teaches not only expressive art skills, but supports participants in setting goals and believing in their potential.
-
M – Mastery: The expressive arts, like any other craft, involve developing technical skills through consistent practice. This pillar encourages students to work hard toward mastering their chosen art form.
-
E – Expression: The arts have always involved a celebration of self-expression and individuality. This pillar encourages children to embrace their creativity and let their true selves shine through their art.
Types of F.A.M.E. expressive arts workshops we will explore during the 2025 Winter Semester:
- Theatre and improv games
- Street performance and street art
- Dance (hip-hop)
- Music (Mixed tapes 101, DJing, School of Rock)
- Costume and set design (based off Mr. Dressup’s Tickle Trunk and including a visit to a local film set)
- Spoken word poetry
- And so much more!
