Through fall 2014 and spring 2015, we assisted the staff at Surrey Schools and Aboriginal Education in developing the course, Sustainable Resources – Agriculture 12, which will be offered this summer at Queen Elizabeth Secondary School.
This full credit course offers students in Grades 10 to 12 an experiential approach to learning about sustainable food systems. That is, field trips and hands-on activities!
Students will leave with a greater understanding of traditional agriculture, sustainable agriculture and cultural interactions surrounding food and agricultural systems. Sustainable resource themes of understanding included: Elements of Agriculture, Sustainable Agriculture, Agricultural Production, Agricultural Supports and Challenges, and Coastal First Nations Ethno-Botany.
