Vancouver Youth Leadership Centre

On a mission to create a community for Vancouver’s youth that gives them the support, skills, and opportunities they need to become our world’s future leaders.

Just as we created VOS to fill a gap socialization and outdoor learning opportunities for Vancouver’s home learners, we create VYLC to fill in a gap for supporting Vancouver youth gaining the knowledge, skills training, and opportunities they need to become leaders in their communities.

The result is a unique, locally based program that emphasizes dynamic and holistic leadership mentoring opportunities, from outdoor expeditions to climate science education to entrepreneurship workshops. We guarantee that every one of our VYLC youths will enter adulthood as skilled, self-propelled leaders with a world of opportunities in front of them.

What you get with your membership

  • All-day Leadership Workshops: Once a month, the whole group will meet for an intensive day of activity that builds youths’ understanding of leadership. The day’s activities are designed to facilitate hands-on, experiential learning that is fun, challenging, and confidence-building.
  • Choose one of two monthly options:
    • One-to-one Mentorship Meeting: This option involves a Zoom meeting with a Leadership Mentor for one hour each month (either two half-hour meetings or one one-hour meeting). These meetings focus on helping youths discuss, shape, and act upon their defined leadership goals. Or choose:
    • Group Social Meet-up: This option involves a second, three hour group meeting. This meet-up will be focused on group bonding, reflecting upon and discussing the month’s leadership concept, planning ahead for next month, and enjoying social games or conversation.
  • Access to Extras: These included priority registration and discounts for our Fireside Adventures youth expeditions, third party certifications like first aid and FoodSafe, and additional support with Duke of Ed. Click here to learn more about our Extras.
